Nepal is a country that has preserved its remarkable culture and history together with its popular peaks and natural beauty. The several museums in Kathmandu, Nepal display the wonders of this amazing country. Nepal National Museum – You will find Nepal National Museum as you drive your way to Swayambhunath Hill. This is the most popular museum in the country for it holds the artifacts and memorabilia of the kings as well as the used firearms. The museum also displays the history of Nepal when it fought against the British Raj who tried to conquer the country. You can find a variety of sculpture works, paintings and murals in the museum. Nepal National Museum also has a collection of coins dating back to the 2nd century BC. Patan Museum –Patan Museum is located in Patan Durbar Square. The museum holds a collection of gold statues of Budhha, Vishnu, Devi and Lokeswar, religious items and other artifacts. Some of the oldest collection items of Patan Museum date back to the 11th century. Tribhuvan Museum – This museum is found inside the Hanuman Dhoka Palace. The palace is where the Shah Kings ruled for many generations. In the Tribhuvan Museum, you can find the memorabilia of King Mahendra and the architecture of the Mallas. Mahendra Museum – This museum is dedicated to Nepal’s late King Mahendra (1920-1972 AD). Mahendra Museum holds the belongings of the king as well as his wall decorations, coins, stamps and copies of his poems and manuscripts. Birendra Museum – Another museum dedicated to the late King of Nepal is the Birendra Museum. This museum is where the last monarch, King Birendra, and other royalties’ personal belongings are kept. NAFA Art Gallery – The NAFA Gallery is situated in the old RANA palace in Kathmandu. It holds two galleries: Birendra Art Gallery and a hall where exhibits of artists from all over Nepal are displayed. NEF-ART (Nepal Fine Arts) Gallery – You can find the NEF-ART Gallery just a few blocks from Patan Durbar Square. The gallery holds the traditional paintings and sculptures of the country. Occasional exhibits are also held in the gallery, featuring works of Nepalese artists. Nepal Art Council Gallery – The Nepal Art Council Gallery is located at Babar Mahal, just next to the Tribhuvan International Airport. The gallery is where art exhibits of painters and sculptors are held.

Excerpt: Detail of Niccolò da TolentinoThe Battle of San Romano is a set of three paintings by the Florentine painter Paolo Uccello depicting events that took place at the battle of San Romano in 1432. The paintings are in tempera on wooden panels, each over 3 metres long, and were commissioned sometime around 1356 by Cosimo de’ Medici, to decorate the newly built Medici Palace. They are significant as revealing the development of linear perspective in early Italian Renaissance painting, and are unusual as a major secular commission. The paintings were much admired in the 15th century. They are now divided between three collections, the National Gallery, London, the Galleria degli Uffizi and the Musée du Louvre, Paris. The three paintings (from left to right) are: The Uffizi panel was probably designed to be the central painting of the triptych and is the only one signed by the artist. The sequence most widely agreed among art historians is: London, Uffizi, Louvre, although others have been proposed. They may represent different times of day: dawn (London), mid-day (Paris) and dusk (Uffizi) – the battle lasted eight hours. In the London painting, Niccolò da Tolentino, with his large gold and red patterned hat, is seen leading the Florentine cavalry. In the foreground, broken lances and a dead soldier are carefully aligned, so as to create an impression of perspective. Agostino Carracci (or Caracci ) (August 16, 1557 March 22, 1602) was an Italian painter and printmaker . He was the brother of the more famous Annibale and cousin of Lodovico Carracci . He posited the ideal in nature, and was the founder of the competing school to the more gritty (for lack of a better term) view of nature as expressed by Caravaggio . He was, along with his brothers, one of the founders of the Accademia degli Incamminati, which helped propel painters of the School of Bologna to prominence. Adsit was a Revolutionary War veteran and he built the cabin for his family of sixteen when he moved to Willsboro Point following the war. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in August 1992 . It is believed that the house survived due to its eventual containment within a larger structure, which was later torn down.
