Really enjoyed this documentary. A sad ending to a life full of artistic expression...Basquiat died way too young. But what he accomplished in his short life was incredibly inspiring.

Loved the exhibit but didn't see any of the group once I started. Were to meet afterwards but didn't see anyone

The exhibition was excellent! My favorite exhibition at the High in the past year. Very well organized in terms of placement of paintings and related media and commentary. I was also pleased to see more paintings from the 30s and 40s than I expected. Fascinating painter! Interesting man! 4 people went to Tap for a drink or snack and that was enjoyable too. I enjoyed the company and the venue, though a little pricey.

This stroll was well organized, there were some fun and interesting people I met and the art galleries and art were great. I would definately recommend this stroll and I am looking forward to attending other art strolls in the future.

I thought this was a very well-done event. The Contemporary did an awesome job! As for the art, there were a few standouts for me - David D'agostino, Nancy VanDevender & Yi-Hsin Tzeng were doing some very unique things. This would have to be the first time I've seen real Cheetos & Broccoli incorporated into works of art (David D). Nancy's wallpaper-like mixed media art was cool as hell. And Yi-Hsin pushed the boundaries.

Given that I was one of three host,s I naturally have to rate it an excellent experience! HA ha!! Really, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing everyone -- it was great time and I hope everyone else feels the same way. I'd do it again. Sorry I couldn't come to the first site -- (but I had to continue preparations at my house) and Garrin, I'm sorry I din't make it to yours for dessert (my girlfriend and I figured we had a good bit of cleanup to do). But if you'll get in touch with me, I'd be very happy to come by and see your work and then provide that document we talked about. Harry

I had a lot of fun getting to know everyone. The progress dinner is an ideal type of event to get to meet people and have great discussions.

Another winning progressive dinner! Such a good idea -- moving through the evening from home to home, seeing people's artwork, and drinking, eating, chatting and laughing at each one -- and such fun. Thanks, everyone! :-)

What a blast! I had so much fun hanging w/everyone. It's really nice having these get togethers, enjoying homemade food, seeing very cool art & getting to know one another. Elise did a fantastic job organizing, so I'd like to thank her for her efforts. Augusta and Harry were gracious hosts and I'd like to thank them as well. Tommy, appreciate you handling the directions & coffee situation. Can't wait to do it again!

Fascinating documentary which underscores the importance of preserving our right to create art and express ourselves freely. Stalin's regime was incredibly similar to the Nazis with their treatment of artists (Rent "The Rape of Europa"). They labeled the artwork of many artists as "degenerate" and sent artists to gulags. I was impressed by the determination of the art collector who collected 44,000 works of art in his lifetime for the Nukus museum (http://www.savitskycollection.org/), and equally impressed with the woman who manages the collection. Had a blast hanging with everyone at Apres Diem afterwards!

Fascinating true story. Who would have thought? And wine and cheese on the comfy sofas at Apres Diem was a plus. It was a great group and the conversation was wonderful.

The film was very good -- I learned of something I didn't know about. It just proves one can find great art in the most expected places -- you don't have to go to NYC. I had a very nice time with the group of eight at Apres Diem. Thanks to those two good souls who bought the bottles of wine!

Glad I saw the Gallery; the spoken word event had the full gamut of talent, which is to be expected. Bottom line: I'd go again.

The gallery was packed - it was nice to see so many folks coming out to hear poetry. I enjoyed hearing the poets, but after 2 1/2 hours I couldn't sit still & left before all of the poets were finished.

I truly enjoyed this gathering. A seletive film with substance. Wonderful setting... candle light ... Apres Diem showcases some art works, also adding to the ambience. Group is able to sit together at a large table and members seem to be genuinely interested in getting to know a little bit about each other. I enjoyed this one a lot more than yesterday's art opening in Kai Lin Art Gallery. As appreciation of art is often times quite, simmering, as opposed to loud and showy... I left Apres Diem longing to do more... One negative is I happen to sit next to some smokers ... would want to avoid next time.

A great documentary. I want to thank Garrin for putting something on the map I probably would have overlooked. It was a very good group who attended and I truly enjoyed the time we spent at Apres Diem - everyone truly seemed interested in getting to know one another -- a wonderful gathering of humantists! The "goat " cheese" balls were overpriced and minimal in quantity, but on the bright side the place was condusive to conversation!

Alan Avery is a truly superior gallery. All the pieces were displayed and lighted well; the space is open and welcoming. Each the artists presented shared a collection of their work that was both interesting and enjoyable to experience.

Kenneth Proctor's work was the smallest, but the most powerful (among all artists represented) in a nuanced sort of way. There were some other paintings that were effective and interested. There were some works that were poor. The nocturnal cityscapes (along the walls of the staircase) were pretty lame appropriations of photographs. It was a large crowd present with a good free bar. I'm only sorry I got there late because I didn't get to see many of the Art Openings Meetup group members (or many there just weren't too many there). Well, there's always next time. Thanks to Garrin for bringing a good opening to our attention.

The film was unusual and stimulating. A few of us went over to TAP and had some drinks. The conversation was fun.
